UNAS, more than 60 years training professionals
The National Agrarian University of the Jungle (UNAS) was founded on February 17, 1964 by Law No. 14912, during the government of Fernando Belaúnde Terry, on the grounds of the former Agricultural Experimental Station of Tingo María. Its organization was led by the National University of San Marcos and the National Agrarian University La Molina, and academic activities began on April 3, 1965 with the faculties of Agronomy and Animal Science.
Today UNAS is a licensed public university, with 8 faculties, 12 professional programs and a Graduate School, educating more than 3,000 students on its University Campus (Carretera Central km 1.21, Tingo María), surrounded by nature including the BRUNAS Reserved Forest and the Botanical Garden.

History of the Central Library
The Central Library was born in 1964 along with the university itself: its first holdings were the texts, journals and publications inherited from the library of the Agricultural Experimental Station of Tingo María.
It initially operated on the second floor of the current UNAS Central Pavilion; in 1979 it moved to the building that now houses the Second Laboratory Pavilion, and in 1990 it opened its own building, built between 1989 and 1990 under the leadership of rector Dr. César Augusto Mazabel Torres.
Its organization followed the guidelines of the Orton Memorial Library of the Inter-American Institute of Agricultural Sciences (Turrialba, Costa Rica), whose director, Olga Lendvayova, traveled to Tingo María to advise on cataloging, classification and circulation systems. The first director was Mrs. Lucía Alzamora de Figari.
Today it has a virtual library of more than 60,000 full-text titles and is a Collection Center for the Legal Deposit of the National Library of Peru for the Huánuco Region.

Bachelor in Library and Information Science, graduate of the National University of San Marcos (UNMSM). He has led the Central Library since 2020; under his management the library's digital services have been promoted, such as the online catalog (OPAC), the virtual library and the digital card.

Mission
The Central Library of the National Agrarian University of the Jungle has the mission of facilitating access to the dissemination of information resources, contributing to the creation and development of knowledge, effectively fostering new skills in its students for the various academic areas taught; and likewise generating quality research products by students, staff, faculty and researchers, in order to significantly support the University's objectives.
Vision
The Central Library of the National Agrarian University of the Jungle has the challenge of effectively meeting the needs of the university population, creating and managing strategies for the development of services, based on new and innovative educational models, generated by the incorporation of new information and communication technologies (ICT) in the various areas of knowledge and research.
Organization Chart and Functions
The Library Unit reports to the Directorate of Academic Affairs of the Academic Vice-Rectorate and is organized into seven work areas: Library Services, Technical Processes, Complementary Library Processes, Collection Development, Editorial Fund, Information Technology and Statistics, and Library Management and Policies.
